Man Bartlett
Peloton, Sydney
New York – September 16, 2011 9 PM to 12 AM
Sydney – September 17, 2011, 11 AM to 1 PM
Portal is pleased to present Man Bartlett’s live performance, #FEEDFEED, simultaneously in New York, at the artist’s apartment, and at Peloton, Sydney.
If you can’t attend either location, you can watch what’s happening in both spaces here on the Portal website and participate via twitter with #FEEDFEED.
From the artist:
Envisioned as a networked pot-luck party extravaganza, #FEEDFEED will seek to ingest both digestible content and actual food as as a hack-job, DIY-style, low-brow version of Relational Aesthetics.
It will go down in New York and Sydney, where visitors and participants online will be encouraged to prepare a meal in advance from a short-list of “super easy to cook” internet-themed options.
During the performance, a surrogate of the artist will be seated in Peloton, a gallery in Sydney, moderating an online conversation about what people are eating, while also eating with visitors. The artist, Man Bartlett, will be doing the same while entertaining folks in a “storefront loft in Bushwick.” Both artists, and their Twitter feeds, will be projected onto the wall of both locations.
The title of this action draws its name from a pun on a web feed, the excesses of online sharing, and the act of actually eating real food.
The duration of the event will be determined by the amount of time it takes to consume the invisible beer pyramids.
Warning: there will be no soup on the menu. Sorry Rikrit Tiravanija lovers.
Additionally, the artist has developed a collaborative Google Doc that is open to the public to edit and change as they will:
Curated by Janis Ferberg and Stephen Truax.
