An Xiao is an American artist, focusing on new media, and social performance using digital technology. The premise of her work is that art, design and technology can transform the lives of individuals, from developing nations, to low-income communities, to global arts audiences.
An Xiao is a part of the Curatorial Team of the 2011 Gwangju Design Biennale. She is the founder and director of @Platea: A Global Social Media Art Collective. Her writing has been featured in the Huffington Post, Art21 Blog, NYFA Current, and Hyperallergic. Her work has been featured in venues internationally, from the Brooklyn Museum to Shanghai’s Xindanwei, and in publications like the New York Times, London’s the Guardian, Art in America, ArtNews, and the Global Times Shanghai.
